Cage information
FIA Certificated:
- A certificated design is manufactured to meet the FIA / MSUK Roll Cage Homologation Regulations.
- Usually, a ‘Multi-point’ design which adds stiffness and strength to the bodyshell.
- These are almost always a ‘weld-in’ cage which is lighter and stiffer than a ‘bolt-in’ cage.
- The designs are stress tested to prove their integrity and geometry, and tube sizes are optimised to give the best strength-to-weight ratio.
- We always use high-tensile tube for these designs (normally T45, which has a tensile strength of min. 700 Mpa) to further enhance their advantages.
- An FIA / MSUK certificated roll cage is accepted worldwide and enables competitors to run in any FIA-sanctioned event.
- Can be as much as 20 kg lighter than an MSUK compliant design.
- When correctly installed, they add value and saleability to a vehicle.
- They are authorised in the UK by MSUK (the MSA as was), but the certificates are still referred to as FIA papers.
- These regulations are constantly evolving, so new designs have to reflect these changes.
MSUK Compliant – See our ‘National’ range:
- The roll cage will be made using the minimum MSUK prescribed tube sizes – thicker gauge than we would use in a certificated design, and, so (unfortunately) heavier.
- Usually, these are manufactured from CDS (Cold Drawn Seamless) tube – ours is a high tensile material with a minimum tensile strength of 510 Mpa – although T45 can be specified at extra cost.
These cages are eligible for all MSUK events.
